Photographing the Nature Center
The Demarest Nature Center provides a gorgeous natural backdrop for photography, and every year photographers of all ages can be found wandering the trails and looking for that perfect shot. Each bend in the path opens up a new vista, and if you're quick on the draw, you might capture a bird or a family of ducklings, a snake or even a deer.
Photographs taken in the Nature Center may qualify for the annual Photo Contest. Every year in the spring, submissions are accepted to be judged by the Center's own panel of judges. Winners are revealed at the Breakfast in the Woods in June.

Craft Show at Oktoberfest
Duck Pond, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The happiest day of the year in Demarest! Excellent handmade crafts for sale, German and Korean food, canoes, inflatable rides, etc. Rain date, Oct. 16.
Sat., Sept. 25:
Trial of the Trails!
5k and Fun Run, Rain or Shine
Two races on the trails of the beautiful Demarest Nature Center. The Trail Fun Run (1-mile) is open to ages 6 and up, including adults. The 5K Trail Run (3.1-mile), which includes all but one trail on the DNC's 55 acres, is for ages 9 and up, including adults. Wakelee Field Playground, registration is at 8:00 am, rain or shine. Registration forms will be sent home the second week of September from the schools, or can be downloaded here: Trail Run Registration (PDF).

2010 Scholarship
DNCA Environmental Studies Scholarship
The Demarest Nature Center Association is offering a $1,000 scholarship to assist a graduating senior pursuing study of, or related to, the environment. The requirements are on the Education page; you can also download the scholarship details here.
